穩定幣一哥 Tether（USDT）早前修改了官網上的產品介紹，表示他們的 USDT 有機會不再 100% 由美元（USD）法幣支撐。
根據「網際網路檔案館」（Internet Archive）組織的「網站時光機」（Wayback Machine）功能，時光機曾於 2019 年 2 月 19 日在 https:/tether.to/ 截取過影像，當中 Tether 公司在 “100% Backed” 一欄如此介紹 USDT：
“Every tether is always backed 1-to-1, by traditional currency held in our reserves. So 1 USDT is always equivalent to 1 USD.”
但到了 2019 年 3 月 13 日，時光機在同一頁面截取的影像，就發現到公司已經修改了 “100% Backed” 當中的內容，變成：
“Every tether is always 100% backed by our reserves, which include traditional currency and cash equivalents and, from time to time, may include other assets and receivables from loans made by Tether to third parties, which may include affiliated entitles (collectively, “reserves”). Every tether is also 1-to-1 pegged to the dollar, so 1 USDT is always valued by Tether at 1 USD.”
由此可見，Tether 公司已經修改了他們一直以來奉行的政策：以全美元法幣支持他們產出的 USDT。公司表示，他們可能以其他資產、債權人所得，以至「附屬所得」（affiliated entitles）合併組成USDT 的支持來源，而這些合併資產會讓 USDT 和 USD 繼續維持在1:1 水平。
今次事件再次讓外界憂慮 Tether 公司的財政穩健程度。Tether 公司一直被外界指跟 Bitfinex 交易所關係密切，Tether 過往亦被質疑沒有充足的美元法幣去 1:1 支持 USDT。
有見及此，Tether 曾分別聘請 Friedman LLP 和 Freeh Sporkin & Sullivan, LLP 律師事務所，分別在 2017 年 9 月和 2018 年 6 月發表審計報告，證明公司的 USDT 是以全美元法幣形式 1:1 支持。不過，後者的報告在發布後同樣被質疑不符合傳統審計原則。
另外，USDT 在去年 10 月中曾經急跌 10% 左右，當時正值 Bitfinex 突然宣布暫停法幣存款功能。在急跌事件後個多星期，Tether 宣布銷毀 5 億 USDT，並且將部分 USDT 先轉往儲備庫，令 USDT 市值下跌至不足 20 億美元。
截稿前根據 Coinmarketcap 數據，USDT 市值 20.23 億美元，按市值計是第九大加密貨幣。
